Third Annual H-F Bike Rodeo Tomorrow

The H-F Park District and both the Homewood and Flossmoor Police Departments are hosting the third annual H-F Bike Rodeo on June 4.

Ready. Set. Roll!

 is going to be crowded with kids of all ages riding their bicycles and demonstrating their skills at the  tomorrow.

Families and children 5 to 15-years-old are invited to come out and participate in the event which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow.

The bike rodeo is a joint effort by the the and both the and . Flossmoor Police Seargent Tod Kamleiter, one of the organizers of the event, thinks that the bike rodeo is a great opportunity for the kids of Homewood-Flossmoor to learn more than just proper bike skills.

"The rodeo offers the children of the community an opportunity to learn bike safety skills and to have a positive interaction with police officers from the communities where they live," said Kamleiter. "Myself, along with the other officers and those from the park district, love the interaction with the young people in the community."

Kids can stop by for a bicycle safety check and will demonstrate their bicycle skills through activities such as cone weaving and rock dodging.

Participants will be judged by local bicycle police officers and everyone that completes the entire circuit will be entered into a raffle. The first 50 to complete the entire course will qualify for a prize.

"I love the satisfaction on the children's faces, they seem to really enjoy the accomplishment of completing the skills stations," Kamleiter said. 

Bicycle and helmet rentals will be available for 50 cents.
