Tinley Residents Welcome Airman Home From Afghanistan

Soldiers Guardian Angels, Warrior Watch Riders, American Legion members and area residents welcome Senior Airman Greg Raney home to Tinley Park.

Residents, veteran support groups and families gathered Friday evening in Tinley Park to give a hero's welcome to Senior Airman Greg Raney.

A member of the U.S. Air Force, Raney attended Joliet Junior College before enlisting in 2007. He returned to his home in Tinley Friday after a six-month deployment to Kabul, Afghanistan.

He was honored with the Commander’s Coin from Gen. David Petraeus and the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and was previously coined by Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at Scott Air Force Base—for outstanding duties as an airman. Raney has completed four of his six-year enlistment.

Welcome home and thank you for your service to our country.
