Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s Group Interpretation Public Performance will feature a unique mix of drama and public speaking. The GI Team — under the direction of Janine Stroemer and Warren Sampson — will present an adaptation of Jacqueline Mary du Pre, a British cellist, acknowledged as one of the greatest players of the instrument. Legend tells of her beauty and genius as a performer as well as her tragic death in 1987. Her career was cut short by Multiple Sclerosis, which forced her to cease performing at the age of 28 and led to her immature death. The GI Team’s performance is based on articles, interviews, concerts, films and a book written by du Pre’s siblings, A Genius in the Family.
