IPO Summer Music Series Returns to Ravisloe Country Club

Imagine a warm summer evening, twilight skies, a fragrant breeze, and glorious melodies winding through the air. You are comfortably seated within the ivy-draped courtyard of a Spanish Mission-style villa as music swells and stars twinkle in the growing darkness.

Welcome to the second year of Summer Music at Ravisloe, presented by the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and Ravisloe Country Club. These concerts, more intimate in scale than our symphonic series, are the perfect way to sit back, relax, and experience the collaboration and artistry of talented IPO musicians through chamber ensembles.

This year’s series begins on June 15 at 7:30 p.m. with the Prairie State College Southland Jazz Ensemble, which promises an evening of hard-driving swing, intricate Latin grooves, tender ballads, and provocative soloing. The ensemble, an 18-piece professional big band, is made up of some of the finest musicians from the southern region of Chicago and the south suburbs.  The group’s repertoire boasts music from Swing era greats such as Duke Ellington and Count Basie, to more modern masters including Charles Mingus, Thad Jones, Dizzy Gillespie and Chick Corea.

Outdoor seating will be provided. Tickets are $30 each. Patrons may purchase all four Summer Music at Ravisloe concerts for $100.

For tickets call the IPO Box Office at (708) 481-7774, or order online at IPOMUSIC.ORG after June 6.
