Kitchens aren't built for men the size of mountains, but that hasn't stopped 'The World's Tallest Chef,' Jeff Goldfarb, from making his mark in the world of food. Using his towering physique and culinary gifts, Goldfarb became a noted chef in the Chicagoland area, but recently that all came to a halt, when he was diagnosed with a tumor on his pituitary gland.
About a month ago, Goldfarb, a Homewood native, underwent surgery to remove the tumor.
“I recently had my pituitary brain tumor surgery. I am in my fourth week of recovery and doing better,” Goldfarb wrote to Patch in an email.
With the tumor removed, Goldfarb said he is now retired from being a chef, but that he hopes to be able to volunteer at a hospital in the future.
"Once I'm recovered from surgery, I plan to take it easy and eventually volunteer in a hospital setting with children in a non-physical capacity," he said. "The World's Tallest Chef is now retired.
