Free Education? Not Quite. Find All H-F Public School Fees

A public school education isn't entirely free. While it is typically much less expensive than sending a child to an area private school, families often have to pay some sort of one-time fee at the beginning of each school year because most public schools cannot run on taxes alone.

Homewood and Flossmoor's public schools are among the many in the country with start-of-the-year fees. Here's a breakdown of the fees of your local public schools:

Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School

The following are H-F Community High School's full year fees for the 2013-2014 school year.

Required Fees

Registration: $295 per student ($350 late)

Graduation fee (seniors only): $35

Music class fee: $50

Optional Fees

Gym Suits: $5 for shirts and $10 for shorts (at least one full uniform required).

Yearbook: $40

EDDA (literary magazine): $5
