You're fairly new to Flossmoor. Why did you choose to open the salon here?
We opened in February 2010. We chose Flossmoor because we live here and believe in the south suburbs, Flossmoor and the surrounding communities. We wanted to support this community with a business that focuses on service and created an atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy themselves.
How long have you been in the industry, and what made you want to be in it?
I have been a stylist since 1979 and started at a salon in Matteson. I have had the
pleasure of working with some of the best manufacturers in the industry, especially Aveda. I have worked as a trainer, colorist, salon & spa director and in corporate sales. The experience of knowing the industries as well as we do has helped us to develop a business model that is unique and very special.
What are your specialties?
Service. Each of our staff has taken Advanced Aveda training courses in their chosen field, along with in-house seminars on the guest experience, and customer service. We take pride in providing a level of comfort and attention that is hard to find. Being an Aveda Concept Salon we support the Aveda mission of reducing our carbon footprint, giving back to the community and doing what we can to raise awareness about environmental issues.
What is something we might not know that Jonathan Kane offers?
The size of our salon can be deceiving; we actually have three full service treatment rooms for facials, massage, body treatments and waxing services. Two of those rooms have showers. In addition, we have a private manicure/pedicure room and a relaxation room to enjoy in between services.
Any upcoming events or specials?
We currently have a number of gift certificate specials for Father’s Day, bonus points for members of the Aveda Pure Privilege rewards program and are in the process of planning a summer skin care and make up event for June. We are a great place to get teachers gifts too. They love manis and pedis!
