It's a Go with Fro-yo for Homewood Couple

Josette and Kevin Fourte will open their own location of frozen yogurt chain Forever Yogurt in Cherry Creek shopping center this July.

A Homewood couple found inspiration at what might be considered the least likely of times: a trip to a frozen yogurt shop.

Kevin Fourte had stopped at a Forever Yogurt store for a sweet treat to console their daughter after she had braces put on. It was Fourte's first time trying frozen yogurt, and he was impressed.

The sampling led he and wife Josette to look into becoming a franchisee for the yogurt chain, which has its roots in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Retired Cook County Sheriff's officer and small business owner Fourte and wife Josette, a realtor, decided to open their own Forever Yogurt, coming soon to Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

"We thought it'd be a great community to have it," said Kevin.

Forever Yogurt currently has 21 open units with another 20 signed and set to open in 2014. As residents of Homewood for two years, the Fourte family noticed few options for cool treats that aren't ice cream.

They hope to open their shop in the former Rico's Pizza, 18324 Governor's Highway. They'll revamp the space to fit the feel of Forever Yogurt, with touches of Homewood history, landmarks and images. The shop offers 85 total flavors on a rotational basis, with 16 flavors featured at once, and 40 toppings to choose from. Each frozen yogurt serving is priced by weight.

Josette recommends french vanilla, but Kevin swears by the mango or toasted marshmallow flavors. Their daughters 15-year-old Kendra and 12-year-old Jaida are excited to work at the store, Josette said.

"We're looking forward to bringing the business to Homewood," Josette said. "We think it'll be good for the community."
