St. James Hospital Gets New CEO

The newly announced executive has a long history working for Illinois hospitals.

There’s a new boss at St. James Hospitals in Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, according to chicagobusiness.com.

Arnold Kimmel became the CEO of Franciscan Alliance’s two Illinois campuses on Dec. 2, replacing former CEO Seth Warren. It is not clear whether Warren remains with the company, according to the report.

Kimmel has a long history working with hospitals. Most recently, he served as CEO of Blue Island-based MetroSouth Medical Center. He’s also worked for Oak Park Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital on the North Side.

"I am eager to roll up my sleeves and get busy,” Kimmel said in the report. “We have a great deal of work to do."

Despite the change in leadership, St. James still remains up for sale. Franciscan Alliance made the announcement mid-year, several months before laying off roughly 125 employees in September.

In addition to their Chicago Heights and Olympia Field hospital locations, Franciscan St. James Health also includes its Franciscan Physician Network and Specialty Physicians of Illinois, with offices in Chicago Heights, Frankfort, Homewood, Matteson and Olympia Fields.
