To compliment , we took a look at the man behind the diner this week: Tom Kataras. He's been a prominent figure in this town for decades, and .

  • : "As a staunch advocate of our downtown business district Tom's presence on the board would be sorely missed as will his laughter and smile each and every day..so don't sail off too far or too long Tommy we still need you here! Yes, Homewods comfort is built upon its people and you my friend help frame its foundation."
  • : "The Homewood Sweetshop has been a part of my life, forever. His grandfather, Dad and Mom always knew us even tho we had moved away. Thank you for all your years of service. You will be missed."
  • : "Thank you Tom and the entire Kataras Family for everything you have done and meant to Homewood! Sad that I will never be able to take my future grandkids to Tom's for an ice cream, but you deserve to enjoy that boat! Best wishes for a happy and relaxing future! You will be missed!"
  • : "I have been observing the Homewood Village Board meetings (they meet twice a month but I'm there once) as a member of the HF Area League of Women Voters, but I'm commenting as a longtime (1965) resident of Homewood. One of the many things I like about our town is its administration and government. Trustee Tom Kataras is notable at Board meetings for having done his homework, for speaking his mind -- even when he's a minority opinion -- and doing that with courtesy and not contentiousness. I look forward to Tom's continued presence in town as a resident, as an advocate for Homewood."
  • : "Hey Tom, how about printing a recipe book of all your great dishes, so that Tom's can live on not only in our hearts but in our stomach's as well. Aurelio's IS Pizza and Tom's IS Homewood!"
  • : "Tom's has a long standing tradition in my church - he has catered many celebrations and has helped with our success. Thank you from SALEM LUTHERAN CHURCH in Homewood."
  • : "Will miss Tom's, but wish Tom and Family only the Very Best Wishes and Love! Hope everyone will stop by to Say a BIG THANK-You to Tom, Ned and Jane for 65 Years of Food, Fun and Fellowship Where Homemade is the RULE, not the Exception! Thanks for the Memories! Also Thank-You for providing the coffee for the Homewood Community Blood Drives-Heartland Blood Centers."
  • : "Thank you Tom for all your work for Homewood, and for always making Tom's a place of welcome. Have fun on the boat but always come home to. Us. You are a treasure to Homewood."

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR CONTINUED READERSHIP AND SUPPORT
