LWV of Homewood-Flossmoor and Park Forest Areas to Host Ag Meeting

Are you concerned, or at least interested, in food safety issues such as genetically modified organisms (GMO's), antibiotics in livestock, and use of pesticides and herbicides?  Do you read food labels and think we should be given more information clearly presented?  Do you support crop subsidies?

You are encouraged to attend a meeting Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Homewood Library co-sponsored by the Leagues of Women Voters of Homewood-Flossmoor Area and the Park Forest Area.  The meeting topic will focus on food safety issues and other related agricultural-related topics.

These and many other related topics are being studied by the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) and Sheri Latash, a member of the LWVUS Study Committee and also a resident of Glenview, will be the speaker.

This Agriculture Update Study is focusing narrowly on 1) current technology issues in agriculture including water pollution aquifer depletion and accurate food labeling, and 2) current agriculture finance issues.

The Saturday, February 15, 10:00 a.m. meeting at the Homewood Library, 17917 Dixie Highway in Homewood, is open to the public.
