The Village of Flossmoor is hosting the first of two public meetings tonight to educate residents on the upcoming $7.28 million water system improvement referendum. The meeting will begin at 7:30 at village hall.

Village Manager Bridget Wachtel says residents can expect the following topics to be addressed at the meeting:

  • The purpose of the referendum—which is for voters to decide whether to finance this project with general obligations bonds.

  • What will happen if the referendum does not pass.

  • What the Water Main Improvement Program is about—including the steps the village has taken in recent years to invest in Flossmoor's water infrastructure and what else needs to be done.

The next public meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

For the first time I can remember in the 27 years I’ve lived in Flossmoor there finally is an advertised open public informational meeting regarding a referendum. It is a real shame that the important first meeting regarding Flossmoor’s upcoming $7.2 million dollar Water Main Improvement Program referendum facing our residents just happens to be scheduled at the exact same time as the presidential debate tonight. Remember, voting on this referendum takes place in just over three weeks. What are the odds?

Mr Thomas should be reminded of the complete facts. Last night's meeting was the second of three public informational meetings. Thre is no requirment to hold any sort of informational meetings of any kind. Sorry to bother Mr Thomas with facts.
