Family History-Beecher Mausoleum & the American Mausoleum Movement

Since 1996 Sandra Thielman has been working to restore and maintain the Beecher Mausoleum. She found it in serious disrepair when visiting it to prepare for her grandmother’s burial. Through her efforts the mausoleum was made a Will County Historic Landmark. The mausoleum currently houses remains of 172 individuals representing 65 family names prominent in Will County. She has been researching these families and the history of the mausoleum movement in America. Come and hear about her efforts to bring dignity back to this final resting place in Will County.   This is being presented by the South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society.
