Professional Women's Network's January Lunch & Learn

In celebration of the 11th anniversary of the Professional Women’s Network’s (PWN’s) formation, the current Board of Directors will present “Getting To Know Your 2014 PWN Board” facilitated by PWN President, Barbara Karstrom on January 23, 2014. This program, hosted by PWN, will explain what members can expect in this coming year and the activities members can anticipate participating in. Participants will benefit by learning what PWN offers its members.

The program will start with a presentation by Wendy Heise, Owner of Wish Photography, explaining how to take pictures for social media. Participants will learn useful tips from taking a “selfie” to capturing their achievements with pictures.

Published author, Kim Olver, Executive Director at The William Glasser Institute, will provide details on the newest PWN Community Group geared towards women who are interested in writing and publishing books. Tina Fagen, Front Line Manager, Jonathan Kane Salon & Spa, Membership Chair, will discuss launching PWN’s exciting changes to PWN’s membership program, including our “Welcome Back” to former PWN members. Ms. Kane will also announce PWN’s upcoming Business After Hours to promote members’ businesses.

Maribeth Hearn, Corporate Trainer, Board Member, will lead PWN’s Impact Group. This group will provide outreach to the primary sales person at member businesses in an effort to help make 2014 PWN members’ best sales year yet. Dr. Terri Winfree, President of Prairie State College, will share the successes of Wine and Words, PWN’s book discussion group. This group meets the second Thursday of every month at the Flossmoor Station.

Attorney Heidi L. Keenan, Programs Chair, will discuss upcoming Third Friday Sales Strategy Group topics. Third Friday Sales Group is the longest running group of PWN Members and it celebrates the challenges of entrepreneurship. The group meets the third Friday of every month at the Egg and I in Chicago Heights. Kelly Lapetino, Director of Career Services at University of St. Francis, Mentoring Chair, will impart the successes of the past year and share the ongoing mentoring program at six local high schools.

“Women who attend this program will leave with a better understanding of what PWN is doing over the next year and what new benefits members can anticipate,” said Ms. Karstrom. “PWN is the only organization of its kind in the south suburban area and is a great resource for business, information and networking. At PWN, there is something for every schedule and career goal with monthly breakfasts, luncheons, and evening events. Mark your calendars and get involved with this vibrant group of successful women.”

Participants should check in at 11:30 a.m. at Flossmoor Station, 1035 Sterling Avenue, Flossmoor, Illinois. The cost for PWN members is $20.00 and non-members may attend for $30.00. This cost includes lunch.
