Symphony of Style Best of Friends Fashion Show and Luncheon

Friends of IPO Host Annual Fashion Show

Friends of the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra will host its annual Symphony of Style, the Best of Friends Fashion Show and Luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Idlewild Country Club, 19201 Dixie Highway in Flossmoor. Tickets for the show are $45 and are available through the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra office at (708) 481-7774.

A fall tradition going back more than two decades, this benefit fashion show begins at 10:30 am with an upscale jewelry and accessory bazaar. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets to win one of six prizes ranging from a deluxe spa package to an original Carole Brejcha watercolor. Raffle tickets are $5 each or six for $25.

The runway fashion show will feature nearly 40 casual, sports and evening wear ensembles. “Hansen’s Villa of Manhattan, Kluger Furs of Flossmoor, and My Sister’s and Me Boutique of Frankfort work with the models to find just the right outfits and accessories,” said Carolee Samuels, event chair. During the  intermission, original fashions designed by recent Chicago Art Institute graduate, Courtney Schneider, will be modeled.

The Friends Fashion Show features 16 models from the Chicago Southland region including: Lois Anthonisen, Flossmoor; Jeanna Bridges, Frankfort; Joey Buck, Frankfort; Lisa Davis, Crete; Nancy Gallagher, Flossmoor;Joyce Lagastee, Frankfort; Jana Mangano, Crete; Phyllis Monks, Crete; Sonya Monroe, Flossmoor; Kathy Orr, Flossmoor; Barbara Sturges, Park Forest; Kirsten Skurka, Frankfort; Donica Van Voorhees, Flossmoor; Karen Wade, Crete; and Lynn Werth, Crete.

“Our fashion show always features dynamic women of all ages,” said Samuels. “Some are working professionals, others are community volunteers. And yet, this fashion show brings them all together to support the Illinois Philharmonic  Orchestra and its education programs,” she said.

The Best of Friends Fashion Show and Luncheon is organized by Friends of the IPO, an auxiliary group of more than 70 volunteers all working to support the IPO.
