Flossmoor Residents Raise $450,000 to Benefit Those Facing Poverty

John and Stacey Shonkwiler of Flossmoor recently gave back in a big way.

John and Stacey Shonkwiler of Flossmoor recently co-chaired the annual “Carnival” gala, raising more than $450,000 for Chicago Lights, a community outreach organization. John is a partner in the Chicago law firm Novack and Macey LLP and Stacey’s law practice is based in Flossmoor.

More than 500 guests attended the event last month at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel. Chicago Lights serves children, youth and adults who face the challenges of poverty, offering supportive relationships and diverse programs, empowering people to thrive academically, secure economic stability, lead healthy lives, and build community. “It’s an organization that doesn’t just bring relief,” John said, “it changes lives by breaking the chains of poverty.”
