Give Thanks, Then Give Blood at HFD's Black Friday Drive

Blood supplies are low this time of year—but you could help make a difference.

The Homewood Fire Department will be hosting its annual Black Friday blood drive on Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the station garage, 17950 Dixie Highway.

This drive is especially important because it comes during a time of year when blood is in high demand, but short supply.

Homewood was recently recognized by Life Source blood center as one of the its top contributors. Last year, they held three blood drives with an average of 70 units collected per drive. Fire Lieutenant Bill Wright is largely responsible for organizing Homewood's efforts. He says the department's work is dedication to fallen firefighter Brian Carey, who used to volunteer at Life Source blood center on his free time.
