Homewood Teacher's First Blog Post Generates Controversy: In the Spotlight

Wanda Gunter's first blog post has generated quite the conversation in our comments section.

Long-time Homewood teacher Wanda Gunter made quite a splash on Patch when her first blog post was featured on Thursday.  The topic? Governor Pat Quinn’s new pension proposal, which would require greater contributions from teachers and school districts alike to pay off staking debts. “First of all, understand that the villain in this crisis is Illinois government” Gunter said in the post. Her accusation, however, has generated a frenzy of activity in the comment section of the under the blog, and she’s been active in responding to the dissent. When challenged on her position, Gunter responded, “I will never be ashamed for speaking the truth.”

Yes, Joel, due in large part to the symbiotic relationship between politicians, unions, and public pension systems. (Both parties, although Dems have fully-mastered it.) Problem is, in most cases of symbiosis, both the host and the parasites eventually die.

I would like to see a blog about what goes on in HF and why the diversity of the school does not reflect Homewood or Flossmoor. WHy are good parents and sutdents leaving HF High school district in such large numbers and not supporting our local high school???
