Seven Foods That Help Fight Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is a widely recognized health condition that most commonly affects men over 40 years of age. Men with erectile dysfunction are typically unable to sustain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance, which can greatly reduce libido (sex drive). While erectile dysfunction is a complex process driven by numerous physical and psychosocial factors, studies show that certain foods may help alleviate erectile dysfunction and ultimately enhance libido. Here are seven of them.

1. Lentils
Anemia is a common cause of erectile dysfunction that commonly results from an inadequate iron intake. Lentils are an extremely potent natural source of iron. As such, eating them in substantial amounts can considerably reduce the likelihood of anemia thereby supporting healthy sexual function. In general, anemia is best avoided by taking in at least 15 milligrams (mg) of iron each day. Just one half-cup serving of lentils supplies nearly half of this amount.

2. Turkey
Turkey has aphrodisiac potential in men, primarily because of its high levels of protein and the potent antioxidants zinc and selenium. Zinc is an all-natural testosterone-booster that supports a healthy sex drive while selenium acts with the fat-soluble antioxidant vitamin E to protect the walls of the arteries from free radical damage.
