Parker Student Receives Scholarship to Space Camp
Kenu Redick, 8th grader at Parker Junior High, won a scholarship to Space Camp this past summer.
On Aug. 21, eighth grader Kenu Redick, a student began a four-day scholarship at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Kenu won a scholarship to the program by writing an essay about his interest in space and science. Kenu loves science and plans to become an astronautical engineer when he is older.
The US Space Camp was founded in 1982 and is designed to promote adolescents’ interest in the studies of math, science and advanced technology. Students embark on a journey applying real-life scientific concepts learned in classrooms to rockets and shuttle experiences. In addition to science students work in groups that promote decision-making, team-building and leadership skills.

Redick’s favorite part of Space Camp was having the opportunity to ride on simulators that “felt more like an amusement park ride."
“I think I want to work with the 6th graders on their Rockets this year,” Redick said.
