SD 161 Celebrates "Ruth Bennett Day"

Ms. Bennett retires after 34 1/2 years of service to School District 161.

May 29, 2012 was celebrated as Ruth Bennett Day at Flossmoor Hills School to honor her retirement from School District 161 after 34½ years of service.  She worked 30 years at Flossmoor Hills School and four years at Leavitt Avenue School.

Here she is shown accepting a gift from the staff and students in an outdoor assembly.  Every student wrote a poem or letter to add to a memory book that was presented to her.  She was also given a cookie jar decorated by students.

Ms. Bennett teaches second grade.  Because of her dedication and love for teaching, she plans to sub next school year.
