Do you want your kids to be organized, and their rooms clean?

Teaching kids organizing skills will help them for life.  You probably won’t hear from a teacher that your child is very organized and tidy.  But you sure will hear about it if they are disorganized and sloppy. And organization starts at home.

Show your kids how to clean their rooms and what “clean” is supposed to look like.  Then make a list of the steps and post the list on the back of the door, so they can refer back to it when you say “Go clean your room!”.

Make sure there are opportunities for trash and clutter to leave their space:  a dirty-clothes hamper and trash can by the bedroom door, a bag or bin for recycling, and a bin in the laundry room for clothes they outgrow.

And parents, we have to lead by example, so your room had better be clean, too!
