Weather Advisory Issued for Homewood-Flossmoor

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Chicago area, which will bring in significant snow and strong winds.

After unseasonably warm weather for the Chicago area, the National Weather Service said H-F and surrounding municipalities can expect the first major snowfall of the season.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect for the Chicago area from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, bringing significant snow and strong winds. According to the National Weather Service, "the snow will develop by midday Thursday and continue into Friday morning." Four to eight inches of snow may blanket the area, the service said.

Wind chills are expected to drop to near zero. Strong winds will produce blowing and drifting snow, "especially in outlying and open areas," said the National Weather Service.
