Political Agendas at H-F High School?

I am writing because as a tax-paying resident of Homewood, my husband, Dr. Charles Price and myself are not in agreement with the upcoming day of silence for LGBT persons. H-F is supported by taxpayers of all diversities and beliefs, and we feel that it is outside of the school's academic purpose to allow this type of support, forcing ALL students to both acknowledge and support the LGBT cause.

I am sure there are LGBT groups and clubs that are allowed promote their purpose at H-F, just as there are other diverse causes/interests represented as well. We are offended that H-F has involved themselves to this extent, and we will NOT allow our daughter to attend on this day of silence, understanding this to be a day of education that we have supported with our taxes, but H-F is acknowledging LGBT persons in the entire school, on a day when education is the priority.

I am sure there will be other students who will be absent as well, which defeats H-F's cause to educate students, as now the school stands with an apparent bias towards LGBT persons. Even if you are just ALLOWING it, It appears this cause will be more important on that day than your academic purpose for education.

We know that we are not the only ones offended, and we are saddened that there will be students out of school due to your intended LGBT cause. This is a definite offense that for some tax-paying residents, as well as for those not in agreement with the LGBT cause. This day of silence basically forces ALL students and parents to promote the LGBT cause, and we strongly disagree with the apparent lack of consideration for those NOT in agreement with this cause (particularly when the school is housed with minors).
