Clerk Shot in Armed Robbery at 7-11 in Homewood: Update

Police have not located the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred Sunday night.

A clerk is in good condition and expected to make a full recovery after being shot Sunday during a robbery at 7-11, 18747 Dixie Highway.

Police responded to a call for an armed robbery around 10:40 p.m. Sunday. The suspect demanded money, then shot the clerk before fleeing on foot, Deputy Chief Denise McGrath said in a release.

Police that night issued a "code red" call to residents just before midnight, advising them of the crime urging all to stay inside while a search for the suspect continued.

Police were not able to locate the suspect. Additional information will be released as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 708-206-3420.

This is a developing story. Check back more for later.

I also did not receive a call. To find out a store clerk was shot 3 days later is very disconcerting, as is the news of an armed robbery near Willow. Also I did not receive a Neighborhood Watch report, which I believe should be used for this very circumstance. I would like to see them sent out when a crime happens, not days later, as has been the case. Have they stopped sending them? Hopefully our comments here will be taken seriously by the Village and PD.

We did receive the call the other evening but after my husband was robbed at gunpoint we didn't hear a word. We were expecting at least the Electronic Neighborhood Watch to send something out. We are both registered for those and have never received one.

I guess it's safe to say we can come out of our houses after hearing nothing further since this incident. I heard from someone that Homewood police did make an arrest.

It was chicagoheights police officers that caught him not Homewood officers
