Indiana Man Charged with Homewood Murder Due in Court

Lamar Wilson of Gary, Indiana, was charged Thursday in the shooting death of 19-year-old Henry Kormoi outside of his Homewood house.

A 19-year-old Indiana man charged with murdering a Homewood man was scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court today.

Lamar Wilson, of the 4900 block of Gary, IN, was arrested earlier this week in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by U.S. Marshals in connection with shooting death of 19-year-old Henry Kormoi in front of his family's house in Howewood, police said.

A charge of 1st degree murder for Wilson was approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office on Thursday, police said.

Police said they believe Kormoi knew Wilson prior to the shooting.

A warrant for Wilson's arrest was issued on Tuesday. Wilson waived his right to an extradition hearing in Iowa on Wednesday and was taken to the Homewood Police Department.

Kormoi was shot at around 11:08 a.m. on June 18 in the 1100 block of 187th Street, police said. He was pronounced dead shortly after at Advocate South Suburban Hospital. According to police records, Kormoi was arrested on June 14 and charged with selling marijuana. Homewood police have yet to say whether the shooting death was drug-related.

The Homewood Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit conducted the death investigation with help from the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
