2 Pot Busts During Traffic Stops: Blotter

FRIDAY, APRIL 26

Marijuana Possession Charge

Tiante Whitaker, 25, of the 1200 block of Jamie Lane, Homewood, was charged with possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and improper lane use, according to a report. Police stopped Whitaker at about 4:44 p.m. near the intersection of 187th Street and Center Avenue for crossing the center line. After Whitaker was arrested, police recovered a baggie of a substance that later tested positive for marijuana. Two passengers also were arrested. Marcus Gillespie, 23, of the 14800 block of Edgebrook Avenue, Dolton, was arrested on an outstanding Orland Park warrant for driving with a suspended license. And Anthony Hall, 19, of the 15000 block of Dorchester Avenue, Dolton, were charged with obstructing a police officer.

Harvey Man Faces Marijuana Charge

Nathaniel Banks, 55, of the 14600 block of Peoria Street, Harvey, was charged with possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana and driving without front registration, according to a report. Banks was stopped at about 11:21 a.m. near 19800 Halsted St., when police noticed his car didn't have any front registration. Police could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the car. Banks consented to a search, during which police found bags of marijuana. He was due April 27 in Markham court.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24

Retail Theft Charge From Target

Heidi Anselmo, 43, of the 1200 block of Vincennes Avenue, Chicago Heights, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. He is accused of taking items from Target, 17605 Halsted St., by concealing the merchandise while in the frozen food section.
