Apollo Park Closes In Response to Chemicals Discovered Nearby
A hazardous material situation at Homewood's Army Reserve Center is now affecting the adjacent Apollo Park.
Apollo Park and Rover's Run Dog Park have been closed as a safety precaution in response to a hazardous material situation at the Homewood Army Reserve Center Wednesday afternoon.

Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Director Debbie Kopas says the park district was advised to maintain a 100-foot safety perimeter around the adjacent Army base. Rather than worry about park patrons potentially getting too close, it was decided to close the park entirely.
Kopas told us Apollo and Rover's Run should reopen sometime Thursday, with the approval of the Homewood Fire Department.
