TUESDAY, SEPT. 27

H-F Student Charged with Damaging School Property

A 17-year-old Homewood boy was charged with felony criminal damage to property after police reported an early morning window-breaking spree Sept. 20 at the North and South buildings of Homewood-Flossmoor High School. Police said Michael Tunstall, of the 17500 block of Western Avenue, was charged as an adult in the incident, which resulted in $12,000 worth of damage. Tunstall, who was caught on school surveillance camera at 3 a.m., was wearing black clothing and a ski mask, carrying a hammer and traveling on roller blades, police said.

Chicago Heights Man Charged with Felony Burglary

James M. Jackson-Burnett, 20, of the 1600 block of Division Street in Chicago Heights, was charged with felony burglary after police said he was found wandering the halls of Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s south building. Police said he entered the building around 6 a.m. and found his way to The Learning Center where he loaded up his pants and a book bag with electronics and electronic accessories including a laptop computer, an iPod, a keyboard, mouse, various cables and more.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 20

Juvenile Charged with Burglary to Vehicle

A 14-year-old Flossmoor boy was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle on the 2500 block of Flossmoor Road after police said the owner of the vehicle awoke to the sound of breaking glass around 1:05 a.m. When the owner looked outside, police said she saw “a kid in a grey hooded sweatshirt standing behind her car." A handbag and binder that had been taken from the vehicle were located on the 2500 block of Central Avenue and the teen was apprehended nearby, police said. Deputy Chief Mike Pulec said Flossmoor police think the juvenile might be associated with other recent vehicle burglaries.
