Candy Bar Heist Ends with Retail Theft Charge: Blotter

SATURDAY, APRIL 6

BB Gun Damage

Someone shot a BB gun at a car parked in the 1100 block of 187th Street, according to a report. The shots shattered the front driver’s side window and dented the door. The victim believes the damage was done sometime between 10 p.m. April 5 and 10 a.m. April 6.

DUI Charge For Flossmoor Man

Clarence Patterson, 46, of the 2300 block of Marston in Flossmoor, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, illegal transportation of an open container and improper lane use, according to a report. Patterson was stopped at about 12:57 a.m. near the intersection of 183rd Street and Argyle Lane after police noticed his car weaving across road lines. An officer reported smelling an odor of alcohol on Patterson's breath when speaking. Police also noticed a bottle of Stock 84 brandy on the passenger side floorboard. Patterson was arrested after taking field sobriety tests. He later refused to take a breath test. Patterson is due in Markham court on April 23.

FRIDAY, APRIL 5

Candy Bar Heist

Thomas Hall, 47, of the 1700 block of Richards Court in Flossmoor, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. He is accused of taking large candy bars and hiding them in his pockets at about 3:51 p.m. inside Jewel-Osco, 3153 183rd St. He is due in Markham court on May 7.
