Car Crashes into Homewood Building

No injures were reported in the accident, which happened near Caribou Coffee.

A driver escaped injury in a "car vs. building" accident Saturday morning in Homewood, police said.

The accident damaged a vacant business at 2000 183rd St., which formerly housed Hollywood Video and is adjacent to Caribou Coffee.

It appears the driver, identified only as a 25-year-old woman, hit the gas instead of the brakes, a police official said.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m., and the broken glass and debris was quickly cleared, a Caribou Coffee employee said.

By Saturday afternoon, the damaged building was boarded up, with police tape stretched across the damaged area.

Caribou Coffee was open for business and apparently was unaffected by the damage to the vacant office.
