Attempted Murder Charge for Area Man Accused of Stabbing His Mother

Authorities say Blake Springsteen of unincorporated Cook County beat and stabbed his mother before leaving her in a ditch in Crete. He is due in Chicago bond court Saturday.

An unincorporated Cook County man accused of stuffing his mother in a car trunk and stabbing her is expected to appear in a downtown Chicago bond court on Saturday.

Blake Springsteen, 22, was charged with attempted murder on Friday. Cook County authorities allege Springsteen .

Springsteen was apprehended Thursday night by Flossmoor police after a tip from a local resident helped end a four-day manhunt.

Area police released a notice to residents Monday night that they were searching for a "dangerous" man involved in a domestic violence incident. On Thursday, police announced Springsteen's arrest. He remains in Cook County custody.

His 46-year-old mother remains in stable condition. Cook County police are not releasing the name of the hospital where she is being treated.

Springsteen was scheduled to appear in a Markham bond court Friday morning. It wasn't immediately clear why his appearance was delayed.
