Chicago Man Charged With Assaulting Homewood Girlfriend and Her Daughter

Homewood Police are investigating 14 similar instances after Warren P. Montgomery was charged after assaulting two Homewood residents.

A Chicago man who was charged on Monday, June 6 after allegedly assaulting his Homewood girlfriend and choking her daughter has been investigated by the Homewood Police Department in 14 other related incidents with that same girlfriend, according to police.

Warren P. Montgomery, 32, of the 2100 block of W. 114th St., is charged with two counts of domestic battery after police say he punched his girlfriend in the mouth, then choked her juvenile daughter with his hands around her neck. The girl defended herself by hitting Montgomery with her fists as he was choking her, according to the report.

Montgomery also shattered the entrance door to the girlfriend's apartment on Elder, then fled northbound on Halsted in a Toyota Camry, according to the report.

Around 2:10 a.m., Montgomery returned to the woman's residence, then fled upon spotting police officers, who pursued him. Montgomery also was arrested after an incident with the same girlfriend on June 1, but she went to court June 2 and sought to have charges against him dropped, according to the report.

The woman declined medical treatment for herself in the June 1 incident, and again declined medical treatment for herself as well as her juvenile child on June 6, although her mouth was visibly bruised and swollen, and the girl had red marks around her neck from being choked, police said.

Police had no record of DCFS contact with the woman and her child. Montgomery also was charged with criminal damage to property for the broken door, with repairs estimated at $100.
