Weapon Charge for Chicago Man Who Allegedly Threatened His Wife: Police

A 56-year-old Chicago man is facing weapon and assault charges after an argument over driving with his wife, police said.

Antonio Bravo, of the 8600 block of Colfax, is charged with aggravated use of a weapon, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm without the required license, according to a Homewood police report.

Police were conducting a seat belt enforcement operation on Halstead when a 1998 Ford van approached at about 12:15 a.m. on Saturday. The driver started screaming to police that her husband was trying to kill her.

The woman told officers that Bravo had yelled "Let me drive or I will kill you," while they were driving on Halsted, according to the report. He then moved a handgun from the front of waistband to the back of his waistband. Fearing for her life, the woman stopped for help when she spotted police.

Homewood officers arrested Bravo without incident and found a loaded 45-caliber STAR Megastar 45 semi-automatic handgun and extra ammo, according to the report. He also was reportedly carrying an expired Firearm Owners Identification card.

Bravo was due in a downtown Chicago bond court on March 17.
