Drive-By Splashing at Starbucks; Domestic Battery: Homewood Police Blotter

Homewood police reports, Feb. 22-27

MONDAY, FEB. 27

Retail Theft

Sharissa Mitchell, 23, of the 7300 block of South Wabash Avenue in Chicago was charged with retail theft. Security at a store in the 17500 block of Halsted Street told police that Mitchell was caught on surveillance footage hiding jewelry in her bag and walking out of the store around 7:15 p.m. In custody, police discovered that Mitchell had an outstanding warrant out of Cook County.

Fake Check

Alma Brown, 41, of the 1500 block of Tiffany Court in Peoria was charged with deceptive practice. Police said they received a call from the Currency Exchange on Maple Road around 11 a.m. about a woman attempting to cash a fake check. Brown told police she got the check in the mail as part of a “referral fee.” However, the company listed on the check told police they do not mail checks and never issued that particular one.

SATURDAY, FEB. 25

Domestic Battery

Christopher Johnson, 18, of the 1500 block of 183rd Street in Homewood was charged with domestic battery. A woman told police that she and Johnson were arguing inside her home around noon when he shoved her and threw a cell phone at her head. Johnson fled the home but was arrested in the 1600 block of Willow Road, according to the report.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 22

The Wet Bandits

Two juveniles were accused of ordering cups of water at the Starbucks drive-thru and throwing them in a barista’s face. They were stopped by Hazel Crest police around 8 p.m. and charged in Homewood with disorderly conduct. Police said similar reports of drive-thru splashing have been reported recently in Hazel Crest.
