Man With Plastic Bag on Head Burglarizes Restaurant

April 10: In hindsight, it might not have been the best idea for a disguise.

At about 1:30 a.m. the burglary alarm of a restaurant in the 2100 block of W. 95th St. went off, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.

Officers were on patrol in the area and heard the alarm and saw that the front glass door of the restaurant was damaged, O'Brien said. They secured the back of the building and went back around to find a man near the door.

The man was wearing a plastic bag over his head and was holding a box containing money, O'Brien said.

The man then attempted to flee from the officers, but he was quickly apprehended, O'Brien said.

He was then taken to Advocate Christ Hospital for "injuries sustained while being placed in custody," O'Brien said.

A representative of the restaurant identified the box containing money as having come from the restaurant. Charges were still pending as of Wednesday evening.
