'Extreme Odor' of Alcohol on Driver's Breath: Blotter

Homewood police reports, April 12-14.

SUNDAY, APRIL 14

DUI Charge For Tinley Park Driver

Ryan Tracz, 24, of the 8400 block of 161st Place in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use, according to a report. Police saw a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu drive off the roadway and then back on at about 4:06 a.m. and then pull into the parking lot at Super K-Mart, 17550 Halsted St. An officer reported smelling an "extreme odor of an alcoholic beverage about the driver's breath." Tracz was arrested after performing field sobriety tests. He is due in Markham on May 20.

Alleged Shoe Theft

Willard Elam, 19, of the 6300 block of Sunflower in Matteson, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. He is accused of hiding $160.00 shoes in his jacket and leaving Kohl's, 17620 Halsted St., without paying. Police said the theft happened at about 6:26 p.m. Elam is due in Markham court on May 7.
