Man Plots to Pilfer Transplant Donation Jar: Blotter

Colt, Ammo Found During Traffic Stop
Rayshawn Edmond, 19, of the 3600 block of Superior in East Chicago, IN, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, according to a report. Police had stopped Edmond's car at about 2:22 p.m. near the intersection of Halstead Street and Ridge Road when an officer noticed a box of Winchester 32 Auto ammunition in the door compartment. Edmond reportedly told police "Those aren't my bullets. They're another dudes." A search of the car turned up a black, six-shot Colt revolver with three live rounds.
Stealing "Lung Transplant Fund" Donation Jar
Wayne Slater, 20, of the 3900 block of River Road in Hazel Crest was charged with theft, and Tyler Skinner, 20, of the 18400 block of May in Homewood was charged with attempted theft, according to a report. Slater is accused of stealing a "Lung Transplant Fund" donation jar from 7-Eleven on Dixie Highway. Police said Skinner knew Slater planned to steal the jar and had tried to conceal the license plate on his car prior to the theft. The amount of money in the jar was not disclosed by police. They are due in a Markham court on April 12.

"Extremely Slow" Driver Gets DUI Charge
Jaime Sanchez, 21, of the 14200 block of Pennsylvania in Dolton, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without a valid license and improper lane use, according to a report. Sanchez was stopped at about 3:04 a.m. near 18147 Harwood Ave. for driving at an "extremely slow rate of speed." Police said the driver had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a breath test. He is due in Markham court on May 8.
Retail Theft
Michelle Cantrell, 49, of the 15200 block of Marshfield in Harvey, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. She is accused of hiding a bottle of alcohol and makeup, valued at a total of $171.97, in her purse at about 5:45 p.m. at Super K-Mart on Halsted Street. She is due in Markham court on May 7.
