FRIDAY, JULY 13

Group of Young Thieves

Four juveniles, whose names were not released by police, were each cited with retail theft after they took clothing with a total retail value of $348 from a store in the 17600 block of Halsted Street at 11:15 a.m. Police said the four left the store without paying for clothing items they tried on and wore under their own clothes as they exited. The four were photographed, given a local hearing date and released to their parents’ custody, police said.

THURSDAY, JULY 12

Fake IDs, Driving While License Suspended

Alfonza Wylie, 22, 16314 Homan Ave., was charged with felony possession of identification cards after police stopped the vehicle he was driving in the 17900 block of Kedzie Avenue at 10:50 a.m. Police found white identification card blanks, Indiana driver’s license holograms, three fake Indiana driver’s licenses and $150 in a safe in the trunk of the vehicle. Wylie was also charged with driving while license suspended. He was taken to the 6th District Municipal Cook County Courthouse in Markham to await a bond hearing, police said.

Homewood Woman Charged with Battery

Samantha Morris, 21, 18218 S. Ashland Ave., Homewood, was charged with domestic battery. Morris allegedly slapped her boyfriend in the face after the two argued at her home about a closed bank account. The victim was there to give Morris a $100 money order for their child, police said.

Three TVs Stolen from Home

A burglar or burglars took three televisions from a home in the 18400 block of May Avenue sometime between 3 p.m. July 11 and 7:12 a.m. July 12 when the incident was reported. The TVs are estimated to be worth $1,400, police said.

TUESDAY, JULY 10

Counterfeit Money Passed

Two men passed counterfeit $20 bills at a pizzeria in the 18300 block of Governors Highway. A store employee became suspicious when the men entered the restaurant within minutes of one another at 4:30 p.m. and each paid for his food with a twenty dollar bill. The employee used a counterfeit detector pen and determined both bills to be phony. The men then left the store, but it was believed they may also have exchanged a fake $20 for food at another restaurant, some time earlier. That suspect bill was inadvertently included in the store’s daily bank deposit, police said.
