UPDATE: Fire Forces Evacuation of Homewood High-Rise

Crews from Homewood and neighboring departments are battling a blaze in a multi-story building on Cherry Creek Drive.

Update: 6:30 a.m. Sept. 5

The Sun-Times Media is reporting all residents of Cherry Creek Towers escaped the burning building without serious injury

The resident who lives in unit 404, where the fire started, says she briefly stepped out to pick up her grandson from sports practice at Parker Jr. High School just before the fire broke out.

What exactly sparked the fire is still uncertain.

Update: 5:45 p.m. Sept. 4

A condominium building on Cherry Creek Drive has been evacuated as Homewood firefighters battle a reported blaze.

Officials weren't available for comment on scene.

The fire is concentrated to the fourth floor of the high-rise building. Fire crews from neighboring departments have been called to assist.
