Flossmoor Jogger Robbed

Flossmoor Police Department is asking the community for help in solving the recent robbery of a Flossmoor jogger by an unknown man.

Someone robbed a Flossmoor jogger at the intersection of Sterling Avenue and Flossmoor Road at 8 p.m., according to police.

According to the report, the jogger noticed a man exit a black or blue SUV stopped at the intersection. Police said the unknown man caught up with the jogger at the intersection of Flossmoor Road and Leavitt Avenue and asked the jogger if he could borrow a cell phone, to which the jogger replied, "no," and kept jogging.

Before the jogger could establish a secure distance, the unknown man grabbed the jogger by the arm, reached into the jogger's shorts and removed the jogger's iPod, according to the report.

Police said the unknown man then returned to the SUV and left the scene.

According to police, the man is described as a black male, 15 to 16 years old and about 5'11'' with a slender build. He is said to have a blemish under his right eye and he was wearing red H-F High School shorts, a white tee shirt and earrings resembling a shamrock design, according to the report.

Flossmoor Deputy Chief Mike Pulec is requesting the community's help to solve this robbery.

"Contact police investigations if any suspicious individuals were observed during this time, especially if they have been seen knocking on residen't's doors," Deputy Chief Pulec said.

That's pretty shocking. We're all going to have to be a lot more alert from now on.

I'm beginning to believe that we should all be carrying tasers in our pockets. It seem as if the crime rate in our area has escalated to alarming levels...or maybe we are just more informed...Idk??

That's a good question, John56, and one I would like to know the answer to as well.
I'll keep in mind to ask the Police Departments if they have any input and I'll share any response with you.

Good idea Mark. On second thought why even jog at all. Maybe just stay at home and lock the door, turn the lights off and hide in the basement.

I have two daughters and I am always telling them to be aware of their surroundings. I understand they want to listen to music as they run, ride their bikes
or walk the dog but, they do understand that they need to keep one ear open to listen to what is going on around them. Just saying. -_-

When this started I thought it would be a great alternative to the old local Star newspaper. NowRead More there is less and less real news and more "stuff". It is a disappointment to those of us who look for local news, especially for news of the local government and local agencies.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Anita. Can you tell me which types of stories you'd like to see moreRead More of, and I can work on it? We want to give you a product you enjoy.

Ms. Wallace, so sorry for the inconvenience. Please know that we do plan to make the X1 availableRead More more widely over time. To make for the best possible customer experience and to manage inventories of new equipment as it becomes available, we tend to start small and expand availability of new technologies. Note also that X1 requires a professional installation, so we are targeting customers that would require professional installation anyway.

The DirecTV interface in 2001 was better than what Comcast offers today to its existing highest tierRead More customers. As a decade+ customer, this is pretty frustrating. So, if I downgrade my service, then upgrade it back, I can have X1?

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't this kid go to Chicago Public Schools Simeon high School? Why isRead More he touted as a Southland Viking when he never played at HF?????
Jack Sheehan June 15, 2013 at 02:27 pm
You are correct that Corey Ray attended Simeon High School, but he now plays for a collegiate summerRead More baseball team called the Southland Vikings. Other than the fact that Southland's home field is the H-F High School field, there are no other connections between the Southland Vikings and the H-F High School Vikings.
