After bringing woman to hospital, Flossmoor resident is questioned and then charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

A Flossmoor man was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after bringing a woman who was found to have a facial fracture to a local emergency room, police said.

Tyrese Currie, 41, of 2900 Imperial Court, brought the woman to St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields on Aug. 12, according to the report.

After the woman received six stitches and an X-ray revealed she had suffered a fractured right orbital bone, medical staff questioned her about the injuries, police said.

The woman stated Currie had grabbed her by the throat, pushed her into a wall, then punched her in the eye following an argument, police said.

Upon arriving at St. James, Currie initially told medical staff that the woman had suffered her injuries when a vase fell on her eye, according to the report.

He later told police he accidently injured the woman when she attacked him in a jealous rage, police said. He showed police that he was scratched on each arm, according to the report. Currie’s scratches were photographed.

The woman admitted to police that she tore Currie’s shirt and scratched him, but she said she did so in self-defense.

A child who was in the residence at the time was apparently not physically harmed, according to the report.
