Attempted Break-in

Someone tried to break in to two homes on the 3000 block of Kathleen just after midnight Sept. 18, but they were thwarted by alarms that alerted the homeowners, police said.

Wallet Snatched in H-F Cafeteria

An Homewood-Flossmoor High School student reported that she left her purse under a table in the North Building cafeteria about 1 p.m. while she got in the lunch line, and she later noticed her wallet was missing. Among the items in her wallet were her driver’s license, school ID and loose coins, the report said.

Four Charged with Battery

Two young men from Homewood and one from New Lenox and a young woman from Flossmoor were charged with battery after a young man from Glenwood was allegedly attacked about 9:30 p.m., Sept. 13, while on the 700 block of Gardner. Charged was Brandon Philpot, 19, of the 18500 block of Lexington Avenue in Homewood; Matthew Demma, 19, of the 18500 block of Ashland Avenue in Homewood; Jacob Hartwell, 20, of the 2500 block of Bluestone Bay in New Lenox; and Trisha Boyle, of the 1700 block of Brookwood in Flossmoor. Boyle was not involved in the physical attack but lured the victim to the location, police said.

Home Burglary

A cell phone, two credit cards, a Social Security card and $680 were reported taken from a home on the 1700 block of Patricia Lane sometime overnight between Sept. 13 and 14. About 6:40 a.m., Sept. 14, the homeowner found a rear window open and the screen in the backyard, the report said.
