SUNDAY, AUG. 14

Flossmoor Man Reports Car Vandalism 

A Flossmoor man who parked his 2006 Honda Accord near the post office while visiting Flossmoor Station Restaurant and Brewery later discovered his vehicle vandalized, police said. The man told police he parked his Accord on Saturday night, and later caught a ride home with a friend. When the man returned for his vehicle shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, he discovered his rear window shattered, though nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle, police said.

Tahoe Burglarized in Flossmoor

A Flossmoor man discovered early Saturday that his Chevy Tahoe had been burglarized and his Versace sunglasses, cell phone and checkbook were gone, police said. The theft occurred sometime early Saturday or late Friday when the SUV was parked in the 1500 block of Lanark Street, according to the report. The man was advised to contact Chase Bank and Verizon to alert them about the thefts, police said.

Boy's Bicycle Stolen

A Flossmoor’s BMX bicycle was stolen from his family's front porch on Elm Street, police said. The missing bicycle is described as black and white, with skull decorations. The bike is valued at $70, according to the report.

Cannabis Charge for Hazel Crest Man

A police officer who curbed a Homewood driver for running a stop sign noted the suspicious behavior of one passenger, and that man was charged with possession of cannabis, police said.
After a Homewood man's 2002 Dodge Neon was curbed near the intersection of Beech Street and Hamlin around 4:30 p.m., the driver told police he was hurrying because he was late to pick up his wife from work at a local insurance agency. When asked if police could search his car, the Homewood man agreed, according to the report.
The car’s passenger, Brandon J. Friend, 19, of the 3700 block of Briar Lane in Hazel Crest, was charged after police found a petroleum jelly container with bagged cannabis, according to the report. Friend is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26 in Markham.

MONDAY, AUG. 8

Flossmoor Visit Costs Hoosier Her Tire

A Dyer, Ind., resident who parked in Flossmoor found that someone stole the spare tire stored underneath her car, police said. The woman parked her 2005 Toyota 4Runner in the 3300 block of Vollmer Road around 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to the report. The stolen spare tire had an estimated value of $500.
