Flossmoor Police Blotter: Stolen Saturn and a Zero-Tolerance Charge

SUNDAY, JULY 3

Saturn SL Stolen on Dartmouth Road

Police are investigating the theft of an auto stolen outside a Flossmoor residence. A woman reported the vehicle vanished after she parked it outside a home in the 1200 block of Dartmouth Road where she worked as a caretaker. The missing car is described as a blue, four-door Saturn SL. The woman said she left the keys in the car beneath the driver's side seat. The car has a GPS chip and has been entered in LEADS, police said.

Zero-Tolerance Charge for 20-Year-Old Flossmoor Man

A 20-year-old Flossmoor man was charged with "zero tolerance for driver under 21" and disobeying traffic control device charges. Jerome Stone, of the 3300 block of Knollwood Lane, was driving southwest on Governors Highway and approached Vollmer on a red light, turning right where there is no legal turn on red, according to the police report. The officer who pulled Stone over noted his red eyes, and Stone then admitted drinking beers earlier in the evening, police said.

Homewood Man's Car Burglarized in Flossmoor

A Homewood man who visited his sister in the 1000 block of Maple Road discovered that his Toyota Camry had been burglarized, police said. The man found his center console and glove box open and the contents scattered, and the man's wallet was missing, according to the police report. Investigators advised the man to contact his bank and credit reporting bureaus.

Two Cars Burglarized on Dunfries Street

Two vehicles were burglarized sometime Saturday night or early Sunday evening in the 1500 block of Dunfries Street, police said. The owners of a Toyota Corolla and Lincoln Mercury Cougar found both vehicles had been ransacked, according to the report. The burglar or burglars scattered the contents of the center console and glove box on the front seat in both instances, police said. 

Condenser Ripoff No Cold Comfort

A Flossmoor man left his cool and comfortable home in the 1400 block of Heather Hill Crescent around 9:45 a.m., then returned later and found the residence was unpleasantly warm, police said. Examining his air conditioning unit, the man realized that a thief or thieves had removed several screws from the appliance and removed the condenser from inside the unit, according to the report.
