SATURDAY, JULY 30

Mercury Rising on Pinehurst

A Flossmoor man returned from a short trip to find that someone had vandalized his air conditioning unit, police said. The man, who lives in the 1600 block of Pinehurst Lake, noticed the temperature inside his home had climbed and called for service, then learned that he would need new tubing, according to the report. A police officer came to the scene and noted that the air conditioning unit had a small cut and a dent on the copper piping.

Window Broken at Flossmoor Library

An Oak Lawn woman who works as a janitor at the Flossmoor Public Library discovered that someone had damaged one of the ibrary's windows. A rock was found behind the desk on a window sill in the building at 1000 Sterling Ave., police said.

FRIDAY, JULY 29

Booze at Flossmoor Hills Park

A 28-year-old Flossmoor man was charged with drinking alcohol on Flossmoor Park District property. Kevin L. Archer, of the 1000 block of Elm Street, was found pouring liquid from a 23.5-ounce Four Loko Lemonade Malt Liquor into a 12-ounce cup at Flossmoor Hills Park, 3745 Beech St., according to the report. Archer has a mandatory appearance at Flossmoor Village Hall on Sept. 1.

Razor Scooter Found

A woman walking her dog Friday morning discovered a Razor scooter at the intersection of Vardon Lane and Hutchinson Road. The scooter had not been claimed as of Monday afternoon and is secured in the Flossmoor bike storage garage, police said. Anyone believing that this is their lost or stolen property should contact the Flossmoor Police Department at (708) 957-4500.

THURSDAY, JULY 28

Party Cooler on Brassie Avenue

A red and white cooler containing melted ice water and eight bottles of alcoholic beverages was discovered in the 1300 block of Brassie Avenue. When the cooler was opened, officers found three bottles of Dry Creek Vineyard, two bottles of Benvalio, one bottle of Chateau St. Chardonnay, one bottle of Francis Coppola Pinot Grigio 2008, and one bottle of Korbel California Champagne, according to the report. The cooler is now being stored at the Flossmoor Police Department, police said.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 27

Woman Whacks Window, Flees in Tears

Two witnesses saw a strange drama unfold on the 1500 block of Kinross Street. One woman said she saw a weeping woman swinging an umbrella in the backyard of her neighbor's residence, then realized that woman was striking a window, according to the report. After hitting the window with her umbrella, the unknown woman, described only as African-American, in her late 20s, and dressed in a green and red head scarf, then fled in a black Nissan Maxima, police said.

Young Library Patron Gets Bike Back

A young Flossmoor Library patron had the happy experience of having her stolen pink mountain bike returned to her. The girl told police that her bike was taken from outside the library, and she and an officer then searched for the bike unsuccessfully, according to the report. The officer took the girl home and spoke to her father, and the bike was later discovered in the possession of three boys in front of the Kwik Mart at 2747 Flossmoor Rd. One boy received a citation in connection with the theft.

THURSDAY, JULY 18 

Fraudulent Check Posted At Homewood ATM 

A Flossmoor man told police a fraudulent check was drafted on his account by someone using a Homewood ATM. The transaction took place at the U.S. Bank in Homewood, 18300 Kedzie Ave., and there are images of the individual who submitted that check, police said.
