Going on Vacation? Flossmoor PD Will Watch Your House

Summer is here and area residents going on vacation can have the Flossmoor Police Department periodically check up on their home while they're away.

When a family leaves for vacation, one of the biggest concerns is who is going to watch the family home. Can the neighbor keep an eye on the house, or maybe a local family member?

This summer, Flossmoor residents can sign up for the Flossmoor Police Department’s House Watch Program, which will provide a periodic check on families’ homes who are on vacation. Residents can sign up for the program free of charge by filling out this form and returning it to the Flossmoor PD before the trip. The House Watch Program ensures “officers will periodically conduct security checks of the residence, which includes ensuring all exterior doors are locked, and no apparent entry into the home,” according to a release from the village.

Although officers will check on homes on the House Watch Program, they will not pick up mail, packages or newspapers.

For more information about the House Watch Program, contact the Flossmoor Police Department at 708-957-4500.
