Heroin Found in Gum Wrapper, Plastic Bag: Blotter

Homewood police reports, April 2.

Heroin In Gum Wrapper & Plastic Bag

Ira Lee Thomas, 46, of the 500 block of 157th St in Calumet City, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a rear registration light and driving with a suspended license, according to a report. Thomas was stopped at about 12:25 p.m. near 1900 183rd St. for not having a rear plate light. He was arrested for driving on a suspended license. During a search of Thomas, police found a clear plastic bag and a gum wrapper, each containing a substance that tested positive for heroin. About 0.8 grams of heroin were present. Thomas was due in Markham court on April 2.

White Rock Cocaine

Leron Kannedy, 52, of the 19100 block of Jonathan in Homewood, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report. Kannedy was stopped after police saw him cut across a park at about 1:03 a.m. During a search, police allegedly found a white rock substance than tested as 0.1 grams of cocaine. He was due in Markham court on April 2.

Open Container, DUI

James Davenport, 29, of the 1900 block of Pulaski in Calumet City, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash and illegally transporting alcohol, according to a report. Police were called at about 1:58 am. to the intersection of a 175th Street and Halsted Street for a crash. One of the drivers in the crash, Davenport, reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and had trouble getting cards out of his wallet. Police spotted an open alcoholic beverage in a cup holder. Davenport is due in Markham court on May 8.
