Home Break-in; Stolen Body Soap: Homewood Blotter

Homewood police reports, Oct. 1

Stolen Soap 

Police say Kevin Hall, 45, of the 15800 block of Loomis in Harvey was caught stealing nearly $70 worth of assorted body soaps from Jewel. According to reports, police also found a glass pipe used for smoking drugs in Hall’s coat pocket. Hall was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia, reports say. 

Stolen Bike

Someone stole a Homewood resident’s bike while it was parked outside the 183rd Street Jewel-Osco around 1:20 p.m., according to reports. Police say the thief cut the lock of the $200 bicycle parked at a bike rack located near the east side of the store.

Home Break-in

Someone broke into a house on the 18900 block of Jodi Terrace sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and stole an iPad and another unmentioned item, according to reports. Police say the burglar gained entry into the home by breaking out the glass of the backdoor. 

Saw Snatcher

A contractor for the village of Homewood was repairing a fence at 183rd St. and Park Ave. around 1:15 p.m. when an unknown black male snatched a $1,200 saw from the back of his truck, according to police. Police say the thief ran off with the saw and entered the passenger side an older BMW driven by an accomplice described as another black male. The two took off westbound on 183rd, according to reports.
