THURSDAY, JUNE 23

No Payment for Pants in Purse

A juvenile female was detained by store security at Kmart after she was seen taking a pair of jeans worth $22 from the rack and placing them in her purse, according to the police report.

GoodSpeed, Bad Check

A $499 check passed at GoodSpeed Bicycles, 2125 W. 183rd St., was drafted on a closed account, police said. A man visited the bicycle store on June 7 and purchased a Trek Model 7100 black bicycle, presenting his Illinois driver's license with the check, according to the report. Although the check and driver's license did match, the check was returned unpaid, police said.

TUESDAY, JUNE 21

Bookbag Boomerang

A Homewood man was charged with disorderly conduct after police said he became unruly and hurled his bookbag at a resident. Elijah Brown, 20, of the 1800 block of Terrace, threw his bookbag at a woman seated near a picture window at her Cowing Court residence, according to the report. When police responded, the man then screamed obscenities at the officers, police said. 

SUNDAY, JUNE 19

Oral B In Demand

A Homewood woman was charged with retail theft after she was accused of taking several "replacement heads" for a popular toothbrush, police said. A Kmart employee said Ann Robison, 57, of the 18000 block of Center Road, was seen by store employees removing several Oral B replacement toothbrush heads from the package and hiding them on her person, according to the report. Robison was stopped after leaving without paying for the $25 toothbrush heads, police said.

FRIDAY, JUNE 17

Harvey Man Fears Plastic Rifle

A Harvey motorist called 911 fearing for his life after a juvenile riding in another car pointed what appeared to be a rifle at him, police said. The man was driving on 183rd Street near Center Avenue around 10:36 p.m. when the other vehicle approached. The man then called 911. Police found the vehicle near 191st and Center, and took a juvenile into custody along with a plastic rifle, police said. The juvenile was then released to his mother and the plastic rifle was taken as evidence.
